Pleasant Valley Elementary LibGuide

You are an engineer who has been hired by your community to develop a plan to keep everyone in their houses safe during an extreme weather event. You must consider all of the impacts that an extreme weather event may have. Research information about hurricanes and determine what types of damage it causes. Be sure to use online and book resources.

Here are some questions to consider when learning about hurricanes.

  • What type of destruction does it do to a house?
  • What impact does this have on homeowners?
  • What type of destruction do hurricanes do to things around a house?
  • What impact does this have on homeowners?
  • What additional problems or destruction do you think come with hurricanes?
  • How can this damage be reduced or prevented?

Design a solution that you think will best protect your house from a hurricane.
